Boleslav fail to score for a second time

The Boleslav players failed to win for a fourth successive match. Moreover, they did not even manage to score for the second match running. Plzeň overcame them through two successful headers from corner kicks. Navrátil scored from the first one in the 30^th minute and Kolář was successful from a second one in the opening minutes of the second half. The Boleslav players were unsettled, turning the ball over in the midfield and their occasional attacks saw their shots off target. The referees denied Procházka a goal in the final minutes of the match but the Plzeň players missed at least double the number of scoring chances.

Both teams approached the game carefully from the outset at a cold and poorly attended stadium in Plzeň. The Plzeň players turned to Horváth for their inspiration and in the 23^rd minute he squared a pass in the penalty area to a running Krbeček but his shot was blocked by Rolko at the last moment. Almost all of the free kicks and corners taken by Horváth were a danger to the Boleslav defence.

Mendy forced a corner when Jindráček centred a pass in front of the Boleslav goal in the 30^th minute, but the resulting kick saw Horváth's delivery to the near post touched on by Rezek for Navrátil to head the ball into the net – 1:0. At the other end , the Plzeň goalkeeper Ticháček tipped a header by Rolko over the crossbar immediately after that the restart, but the Boleslav players failed to convert the resulting corner kick.

Those who expected an improvement in the Boleslav player's efforts to win the match after the break were disappointed. Plzeň made it more difficult for their underperforming rival at the first occasion as Kolář headed in a well placed corner kick from Petržela for the second goal in the 49^th minute – 2:0. This goal took the rest of the fight out of Hapal’s team and it was the Plzeň players that continued to create the more dangerous chances in front of their opponent's goal.

Shots by Mendy and Řezníček at the end of the match failed to find the target.
