They Lost Despite More Chances to Shoot

Boleslav was the match favorite thanks to their four spring points, which saw them confirm fifth place on the league table, contrarily Ostrava had failed to score a single goal in the first two matches of the season, consequently leaving them without a point and coming close to falling out the competition. Moreover, Boleslav had not lost in Bazaly for four years, to be exact from 10 November 2006.

The poor spring shooting performance of Baník was improved thanks to Varadi in the 13th minute, making Boleslav the sad one for a change. Neves' long pass was headed down in the penalty area by Frejlach freeing Varadi, who made it count alone against Miller - 1:0.

Even before the opening goal Boleslav had already survived two chances from their rival. Frejlach's dangerous header was neutralized by Miller's dive to the left post. The goalie also intercepted Varadi's pass across the goal in the 11th minute.
In the final minute of the first half Baník failed to increase its lead thanks once again to Miller's readiness. Boleslav's goalkeeper succeeded to jump and save two shots, the third one ending in a corner kick after being turned away by the melee of defenders.
Boleslav most threatening first half moment came in the 23rd minute when Táborsky's corner kick saw Johana's header fly narrowly above the crossbar. Many free kick attempts and shots from open play rebounded off the Ostrava defence, failing to make it through to the goalie Danek.

The 57th minute had a fatal impact on the second half and the outcome of the match. Opiela saw a second yellow card, prematurely sending him off the pitch. The weakened Boleslav side showed a remarkable will to score in the remaining thirty minutes. Most of the time they played with three, and sometimes only two defenders. Ostrava's penalty box was on fire with centered passes flying from the right and left flanks across the face of the goal, but unfortunately not finding a way in.

Two minutes after the introduction of fresh players Dimoutsos and Kulič held the ball up before Kulič shot fiercely just wide of the upper left corner of the goal. Ostrava countered only for Frejlach's chance to be well caught by the reliable Miller in the 52nd minute. The Boleslav goalie also handled well from Hušbauer's cannon shot six minutes later. On the other side Mendy tried to surprise Danek from an angle, but to no avail. Šírl could not catch up with Varadi in the 62nd minute, only Johana stopped him. Boleslav's counterattacks, led by Procházka and a while later by Kulič, failed to result in a goal. During the latter attempt, the forward was alone against Danek but the ball got away. A 66th minute corner from Dimoutsos was headed at the near post by Johana, but again failed to find the target. Dimoutsos' shot towards the left post was intercepted by Daněk in the 77th minute. Two minutes later saw Dimoutsos pass to Kúdela who passed to Kulič, and his cannon ball daisy cutter was a difficult ball for Daněk to handle, but he was again up to the task. Kúdela played in Chramosta in the 81st minute, and his nice centered pass was headed away by Frydrych from right in front of the pressing Dimoutsos. Frejlach's bomb from the counterattack was well covered by Miller. Dimoutsos set up Johana in the 83rd minute, but the latter fired wide of the goal. Procházka's long distance throw-in one minute later was knocked on by Rolko to Chramosta, but the ball just eluded his reach before finding Danek's hands. Two-minutes of stoppage time did not change anything.

The match ended as a close win to Baník Ostrava, their first of the spring season. Boleslav lost a championship match for the first time this year. It is still in fifth position, but the gap behind the fourth placed Olomouc and third placed Jablonec increased.
